Monique Van Dusseldorp and her team have just put the final touches to a great program for Picnic06, which will take place in Amsterdam from 27 to 29 September. It is a new annual conference focused on creativity in entertainment and communication, with a crossmedia angle (in o-tone: "explore how art, science, business and technology are changing the way we interact, produce and consume media"). There will be speeches, discussions and workshops on everything from new video formats to virtual reality, from blogs to conversational marketing, from videogames to digital communities.
Among the speakers: Simon Guild (MTV's European CEO), Michael Johnson (the head of the Moving Pictures Group at Pixar), Lorraine Twohill (Google's European marketing guru), Craig Newmark (founder of Craigslist), Martin Varsavsky (founder of FON), Philip Rosedale (founder of Linden Lab - the makers of "Second Life"), Reinier Evers (Trendwatching), John Thackara (author of "In The Bubble") and people from MySpace and Nokia and many more. I will moderate a session on social media with Newmark, Marc Canter (co-founder of Macromedia and founder of People Aggregator) and Dan Gillmor (author of "We, The Media") - so if you have a question for any of them, click on "comments" and ask it.
Plus, there will be time to view the Rembrandt exhibit at the Rijksmuseum.
The Lost Boys, one of the partners of the event, have put together a promotional video. It's on YouTube.
