The first Swiss Blog Awards will be given to three bloggers (one each for "best", "rookie" and "multimedia") on May 5th at a ceremony/conference/party in Biel/Bienne (for non-Swiss, that's a city with a dual name because it is located on the linguistic frontier between the German and the French parts of Switzerland - imho, a perfect choice for the event).
Another award? Well, yes: blogs are important, blogs are impactful, and the gathering will be a good opportunity for a discussion on this. Blogs also deserve support, that's why Namics, the largest Swiss Internet consultancy (on whose Board I sit) is co-sponsoring the event. Nominations will open March 23rd (are eligible all blogs with "a clear Swiss connection") and run for one month before 5 finalists will be picked in each category.
Nor is the SBA alone: the Souris d'or, which is a prize that has been awarded by the Milton Ray Hartmann foundation for a few years now to Swiss websites related to education, politics and culture, will be given this year to blogs (and here is theirs in French and German): nominations are open until March 31st, the date of the award ceremony will be communicated later.
The Souris d'Or award will be given by a jury, while the SBA's will be decided by users' votes, through a mechanism that's been devised by idea factory Brainstore.
